Janis Rafailidou's Residential Artwork is an interactive environmental- installation of a studying office created and positioned against the shop-window of the Leeds Design Innovation Centre. Looking out towards the 46 the calls street, the office will be inhabited weekly by Janis in order to be used as her temporary studio space, during a three-week period. Residing inside her artwork, she will also host her MA seminars and tutorials with tutors from the School of Fine Art, in the University of Leeds, inside the exhibit. The public will be able to view the work from outside but access and interact with it from inside the gallery space. On a weekly basis, the visitors will be welcomed to seat in the office and view documents and videos of Janis practise, but also open a dialogue with the artist and create new forms of communication between artistic practice and visual experience, inside this private/public space. The Residential Artwork was part of the PeripheralExhibition06 that presented works by 14 artists in Leeds, 2nd 20th October 2006.
